Anise oil is commonly used in aromatherapy oil blends to break up congestion, and ease coughing. Narcotic in large doses. Anise seeds contain anethole, a plant hormone similar to human estrogen, avoid when pregnant. The essential oil is for topical use only. Anise should not be used in very young children.
