Citronella Oil Description

Cymbopogon winterianus or Java citronella has a higher geraniol and citronellol content then Cymbopogon nardus or Sri Lanka citronella. Because of these constituents Java citronella is used more in perfumery and is preferred in aromatherapy.

Citronella Properties:

Citronella oil is similar to lemongrass and best known as a mosquito repellent in insect sprays and candles. Citronella also is used medicinally to cool fevers and soothe rheumatic pain. The principal chemical constituents of citronella, geraniol and citronellol, are antiseptics. It has also been used traditionally for menstrual and digestive problems.
