cellulite remedies
Improving Circulation: Smooth skin depends on strong,
active blood vessels, adequate hydration for healthy skin cells, and
the right balance of nutrients. Special attention needs to be paid to diet
as well as topical applications. Herbs can help the body flush out toxins,
eliminate excess water waste and also help to promote
healthy circulation to problem cellulite areas. Kelp has
long been used to reduce cellulite deposits, or unsightly lumps of fat that
appear principally on the thighs. Because of its high iodine content, many
nutritionists assume that kelp stimulates thyroid function, which increases
the rate at which the body uses energy and, as a consequence, decreases
fat deposits. It is also found in many soaps and topical skin treatments
including salon body wraps. Numerous users have reported success with this
treatment, although no studies have been done in this area. Gotu
kola is an excellent vasodilator and tones the blood vessels allowing
more circulation to problem cellulite areas. One of its active ingredients,
asiaticoside, works to stimulate skin repair and to strengthen skin, hair,
nails, and connective tissue. It is sold as a drink in Asian specially stores
under the common name pennywort, but a herbal tea made from the leaves may
be your best bet.
EFA's and oils : After you slim down to a healthy weight, cellulite can still make
donning a swimsuit or summer shorts hard for self-conscious people. Essential Fatty
Acids (EFAs) found in flax, hemp oil, borage, and evening primrose oils are important
in your battle against cellulite and fat deposits. These oils can be used both
in food, supplement capsules and as body oils. The exception is black seed
oil which can cause skin irritation and is for food use only. These oils should not
be used for cooking, or ever be heated, and are best kept refrigerated.
Using essential oils: Blend astringent, anti-cellulite essential oils with almond oil, jojoba, or other light carrier oils to make a massage blend. Massage over the whole problem area, stimulating circulation to the problem cellulite. This will leave the skin hydrated and smooth. Grapefruit, lemon, cedar and cypress oils are commonly used to stimulate the lymphatic system which is thought to have a beneficial effect on cellulite.
Everlasting, Helichrysum angustifolium, essential oil is a natural anti-inflammatory that is often used in aromatherapy oils and topical treatments for all kinds of skin disorders, including cellulite and stretch marks. It is rather pricey, but can be used sparingly.
Coffee wraps and caffeine scrubs :Guarana, and coffee are
often used in wraps and body scrubs in combination with white
willow to treat
cellulite. The theory behind these treatments is to dehydrate the body. This
are not ideal because the water weight is quickly regained and I find the treatments
to be rather
messy and time consuming. It may be worth a try for a special occasion like a beach
vacation.
